This most enjoyable recording features one of the British Army's all-brass bands, a type of ensemble that was added in recent years to enrich the British Army's musical offer. The Royal Welsh are based in Cardiff and are an Army Reserve Band, which means that although its 41 members are not full-time soldiers, many are members of Wales's top civilian brass bands who are so highly regarded in British brass playing. This CD, recorded in January 2024 in Studio 2 at the RAF Music Service HQ in Northolt, features some music by the late Major Denis Burton, father of Richard, the Band's current Director of Music, who was so highly appreciated for his work with the Band of the Grenadier Guards and then, after his retirement with this very band.
