Empusae Ft. Peter Bjargo - Onus

Peter Bjargo is a Swedish musician renowned for his influential contributions to neofolk and dark ambient genres. Founding Arcana (1996) and being part of Sophia, he has crafted atmospheric compositions marked by poignant melodies. Nicolas Van Meirhaeghe is the Belgian artist behind Empusae since 1999. His project delves into dark ambient, industrial, and ritualistic sounds, pushing the boundaries of musical experimentation. Nicolas has joined forces in the past with acclaimed artists like Colin H. Van Eeckhout (Amenra, CHVE, Absent in Body), Shinkiro, Marc T. (Dirge), Gwenn Tremorin (Flint Glass, Tzolk'in), Nick Grey, Ordo Rosarius Equilibrio, In Slaughter Natives, just to name a few. Onus marks the second collaborative venture between Empusae and Peter Bjargo, following their critically acclaimed album Proslambanomenos. Unlike their previous collaboration, where Nicolas (Empusae) added instrumentations to Pete's compositions, Onus takes a reverse approach. Peter contributes his voice and additional sounds to Nicolas's compositions, resulting in a seamless fusion of their musical universes. A voyage into the darkest aspect of humanity, navigating through ambient atmospheres, melancholic chants, floating arpeggios, drifting melodic pads, pounding drums, alienating analog...leaving the voyager in the endless duality between hope, solidarity, and empathy against despair. Onus, literally means burden of life, and is about the chains we have connected with our demons as individuals as well as the darkest and most cruel aspects of humanity.
