Alan Cooper is one of the founding members of the world-famous chart-topping jazz band The Temperance Seven. Cooper - who arranged Home In Pasadena arguably their most famous hit - doubled on clarinet, bass-clarinet, soprano saxophone and the obscure phonofiddle.
After the Temperance Seven, Cooper freelanced as a musician and lecturer, deputising in the Alex Welsh and Freddy Randall bands, and also appeared regularly with the Anglo-American Alliance alongside his old 'Temps' bandmate John RT Davies.
On this CD Alan Cooper is playing clarinet with some good friends - and what a line-up! Dennis Jones trumpet, Mike Pointon trombone & vocals, Alan Cooper clarinet, Ray Smith piano, Bill Stagg banjo, Jim Bray bass, Dave Jenkins drums.
This release is certain to appeal to all jazz lovers and clarinet lovers, but also to the more mainstream followers of The Temperance Seven.
