Peter A. Schmid - Contrabassics

During the Corona lockdown, all concert activities were cancelled and suddenly there was an unexpected amount of free time available. Time to practice, compose, think and realize projects that had been cherished for a long time and had been postponed time and again...For decades I have been fascinated by the deepest woodwind instruments. Thanks to the new development of low-frequency saxophones (and contrabass clarinet) by the ingenious German instrument maker Benedikt Eppelsheim, there are now finally well playable woofers available. Many new musical possibilities are opened up, the low frequency range is newly explored... Contrabassics is an interim report in this respect. In duos and trios, some of them with long-time companions and friends, I play exclusively on contrabass instruments and the latest Eppelsheim development, the C-bassax.
