The Legendary Len Liggins - Paint It Yellow

Len was dubbed 'Legendary' by BBC Radio DJ JOHN PEEL, who used to play tracks from the critically-acclaimed solo vinyl EPs that Len recorded when he wasn't busy with The Sinister Cleaners, The Wedding Present and The Ukrainians.

The EP features 'Paint It Yellow', a track about a young man whose girlfriend is jealous that he lavishes more attention on his car than on her, and 'Psychedelic Carol', a tale about an ageing hippy with a fondness for drugs and sweets. On a more serious note, 'Dusk on the Osa Peninsula' describes the pioneering spirit of the small central American country of Costa Rica, which is on track to become one of the first carbon-neutral counties in the world, but whose ecosystem is still affected by the global warming activities of the rest of the world. Finally, 'I Wish I Wish (Love Is Pleasing)' is a traditional folk song Len remembers from the times he spent with his relatives in Ireland as a child.The first three songs are quintessentially English observations, and a far cry from Len's folk-rooted Ukrainian-language-singing alter ego as founder member of internationally acclaimed Cossack folk-punk group THE UKRAINIANS.
