Agualoca is proud to bring out the fourth volume of Sulle Rive del Tango, the acclaimed series created by its homonymous collective, published by the Neapolitan label now distributed by Proper.
After the success of the first three volumes, Milonga Madre witnesses a more in-depth research on the origins of tango and his vocation of dance music, with particular attention to the rhythms originating in the milonga, defined traditionally the mother of tango. This research is, however, only a fertile starting point that is transmitted as a true genetic heritage, modifying itself in different times and places, and creating a multifaceted and unpredictable collection of tracks.
From the '30s foxtrot masterfully reinterpreted by Mexican band Pate de Fua, to the vals of the Sephardic Israeli singer Yasmine Levy, through the sinuous rhythm of Polpo d'amor, written by singer-songwriter Vinicio Capossela on music by Calexico, a kind of a bolero in deep waters.... to dance until the end of the abyss
The journey of Sulle Rive del Tango finds a fertile ground in Northern and Eastern Europe countries, with Norwegian Kari Bremnes and a balcanic reinterpretation of Miguel Di Genvoa's electronic tango (Otros Aires) produced by the bulgarian artist Boyko Petkov, not to mention Respiro, with the soothing voice and Mediterranean sounds of Raiz with Radicanto.
The other tracks completing the album come out from France, Austria, Serbia, Argentina and the Netherlands, from underground superstarsTtes Raides to the modern arrangements of traditional milongas by Amores Tango and Beltango, ending with outstanding contaminations between tango, electronica and hip- hop by La Tipica Sanata, Waldeck and Caro Emerald
But Milonga Madre also gives birth to dedicated musical productions, a process already started in 2011 in the third volume of the compilation published by Microcosmo Dischi:
Milonga Madre, who gives title to the disc, is a reintrpretation of a milonga by Alfredo Zitarrosa, made by the Neapolitan trio Orchestra Joubs (who also signed track n.17 of the cd) in collaboration with the Argentinian born Yayo Gonzalez, voice and leader of Pate de Fua. Then a unique version of the famous Lilies of the Valley by Jun Miyake, track used by Pina Bausch in its choreographies created by Tango in Vilnius, a collective project lead by Davide Mastropaolo.
Last but not least a ne tient pas la route , debut for Floriana Cangiano, aka Flo , Tango per D by Sineterra, another band from the Agualoca Records catalogue, and the short final track for guitar, accordion and musical saw by Alberto Becuci that closes the album with its Fellini like atmosphere..
A long journey made of 18 tracks, a hundred years, many births, children and music from a benevolent and fruitful mother.
