Over the past 25 years Mexican 'Banda' music has seen a remarkable revival in the USA after almost passing into history in Mexico. 'Banda' music is usually performed by 16 piece brass bands and is currently the #1 popular dance music of immigrants who enjoy a variety of rhythms, especially polkas, cumbias, and waltzes. Vocalists present a wide range of subjects from the romantic to the often stark reality of corridos. Banda Salvatierra is a fine local San Francisco Bay Area aggregation that is constantly busy playing parties and weddings, one, two or even three one hour jobs per night. Although all the members have day jobs to support their families, they drive from one dance to another to please their fans who live in every part of the Bay Area.
