Fernhill - Hynt

Since they formed in 1996, Fernhill have become important cultural ambassadors for Wales and its music, having toured in over 20 countries and three continents. The musical traditions that inform the individual players are many and diverse but the common urge is to challenge, enchant and to reach into the core of a shared inheritance and memory and to make that available to anybody who wants a piece. The current line-up of the group, as heard on this, their fourth album, is Julie Murphy (vocals), Tomos Williams (trumpet,cornet), Cass Meurig (fiddle,crwth), Ceri Rhys Matthews (guitar,pipes) and Tim Harries (double bass). This is acoustic music at it's most fluid and inventive, specifically Welsh in origin but universal in appeal.
