Roxanne Potvin - Play

'Play is the fifth album and first release on Black Hen music for Juno-nominated singer-songwriter Roxanne Potvin. It is produced by Juno Award winner Steve Dawson and was recorded in Vancouver with an all-star backing band that includes Geoff Hicks (Colin James) on drums, Keith Lowe (Bill Frisell, Fiona Apple) on bass, and Chris Gestrin (K-OS, Randy Bachman) on keyboards.Recorded over a 2-week period, Play establishes Roxanne's abilities as an acclaimed singer as well as a remarkable songwriter, which will solidify her reputalion as one of Canada's finest performers.Roxanne has previously worked with luminaries such as Colin Linden, John Hiatt and Bruce Cockburn and toured with Sue Foley and Deborah Coleman. Play is a shift from her distinctive blues-based sound to incorporate a variety of influences from rock, and pop, to punk.
