Kermit Ruffins - Livin' a Treme Life

The New Orleans native trumpeter Kermit Ruffins has a starring role in HBO's new series 'Treme' which is written and directed by David Simon of 'The Wire' fame, who also contributes the liner notes. His new album celebrates the Treme neighbourhood in New Orleans which is the home of many of the city's musicians. Ruffins is fiercely dedicated to the musical heritage of his hometown, maintaining the Orleans brass band and jazz traditions. 'Livin' a Trem� Life' features many of New Orleans' leading musicians including the Rebirth Brass band rhythm section. But it's not just a nostalgia trip with a foray into hip-hop and tunes by the Isley Brothers and Horace Silver are given the Crescent City treatment.
