Norway�s Mayhem are a band renowned for being the forefathers of the Norwegian black metal moment and one of the most important bands of the genre. Formed in the mid 1980�s, Mayhem has often made the headlines due to their bloody and dark history, but also due to their pioneering style which has inspired a whole generation & continues to do so.

�Live in Sarpsborg� now receives its debut official CD release on Peaceville, with new audio captured from a master source. The show, originally performed on 28th February 1990 was one of only a handful to feature the now legendary line-up of Dead, Euronymous, Hellhammer & Necrobutcher, & this particular Norwegian show was organised by Jon �Metalion� Kristiansen of Slayer Mag fame, under the moniker of �Slayer Aid�.

Perfectly demonstrating the pure raw essence of Mayhem, the band surge through some of their early classics, from the �Deathcrush� release to tracks which would later feature on their highly revered debut, �De Mysteriis Dom. Sathanas�.

This edition of �Live in Sarpsborg� includes a booklet featuring rare and unseen band photos, plus extensive thoughts & recollections from Metalion and others associated with the event, & also essentially includes a DVD featuring very rare footage of the show itself from close to the stage.
