Big Brother & The Holding Company were leading lights on San Francisco's psychedelic scene in the late 60's, led by the charismatic Janis Joplin.. This 2-CD set comprises audio and audio-visual recordings made by the band at the height of their creativity which have only recently been made available and remastered to obtain pristine sound by the surviving band members . Disc 1 is a hitherto unreleased show from January 1967 at The Matrix, San Francisco .Disc 2 was recorded in July 1966 at California Hall and had previously only been available as poor quality bootlegs. Disc 2 also contains two enhanced videos filmed at the studios of KQED TV in April 1967, just weeks before the group's legendary Monterey Festival appearance, and is also previously-unreleased with excellent sound and picture quality . This release includes observations from two of the original band members as well as detailed notes about the group and the recordings.
