De Tian - Transcriptome

Springing from the late 1970's Sheffield experimental music scene, de tian, the brainchild of Harry Partch / Stockhausen inspired composer Paul Shaft, somehow fitted to vibrant scene in the city at time when pure pop rubbed shoulders with the avant garde without any conflict. Once Shaft teamed up with free jazzer Martin Archer, the group soon mutated into the jazz punk Bass Tone Trap before having chance to make its own album. Some 40 years later, Shaft and Archer rectify the situation by reuniting to create this slice of tribal electronic music which puts the original idea into a new context.
