Recorded in 2003, here are 13 studio tracks individually showcasing four of the grande dammes of the Texas blues/soul scene: Lavelle White, Gloria Edwards, Miss Candy (Amanda Kennerson) and Glenda Hargis. White and Edwards are fairly well known to serious R&B collectors, having first recorded respectively for Duke Records in the '50s and King Records in the '60s. Kennerson and Hargis' careers have perhaps been more parochial but they are firmly in the same ex-gospel-to-blues/R&B/soul tradition.
