In the 19th century, the importanceof musical life for the royal familyruling in Sweden increased rapidly. Allthanks to King Charles XIV John, the firstmonarch from the House of Bernadotte, which still reigns at the Swedish court. It is worth noting that many of its representativeshave shown numerous artistictalents in terms of musical performanceas well as composition and theoryof music. Although officially, accordingto the 19th-century etiquette, representativesof the royal court could notperform any functions related to musicallife, it did not stop them from making attempts at composing and organisingnumerous concerts.
