Ella Fitzgerald - The Legendary Rome Concert

The 1958 Rome concert presented here in its entirety finds Ella Fitzgerald in her prime on her 41st birthday (although people thought it was her 40th at the time). She is backed by her regular group of that period, featuring pianist Lou Levy, bassist Max Bennett, and drummer Gus Johnson. Oscar Peterson, Herb Ellis, and Ray Brown, along with Johnson, accompany Ella on the last song, a swingin Stompin at the Savoy .Peterson, Ellis and Brown, along with drummer Jo Jones back Ella on the bonus tracks, which consist of Ella s set from a 1956 Jazz at the Philharmonic concert in Seattle.
