Dizzy Gillespie & His Orchestra - Gillespiana (Compositions By Lalo Schifrin)

The complete original LP Gillespiana (Verve BMGV8394), the first of many collaborations between Dizzy Gillespie and Argentinean pianist Lalo Schifrin. In addition to his role as the band's pianist, Schifrin also composed the complete Gillespiana suite. A week after the studio session, the Gillespiana suite was performed live in Paris in a quintet format. Four of the fi ve movements from that concert have been added here as a bonus, allowing us to compare the orchestral and small group versions.
