The Peter Edwards Trio - A Matter of Instinct

In 2014 pianist and composer Peter Edwards released 'Safe and Sound', his critically acclaimed debut album that revealed a talent for writing colourful soundscapes, intricate rhythms and dexterous grooves. 'A Matter of Instinct', features eight original compositions written for his trio with Max Luthert on bass and Moses Boyd on drums.

Edwards draws inspiration from his embrace of Brazilian music on Samba City and the ever-present support of friends and family in Loved Ones. He has written about facing adversity in Down But Not Out and the act of breaking free from perceived limitations in Escape Velocity. The remaining tracks, 'A Matter of Instinct' that features Edwards on electric piano, Groove Swing Funk and The Runaround, explore the trio's signature mix of soul, Latin and straight ahead jazz. So much of music is about instincts. I've faithfully followed my own instinctive musical voice when devising each track presented on this album explains Peter.
