Dejan Terzic Melanoia - Labyrinth

Dejan Terzic takes us with his quartet Melanoia - the name stands for the interplay of melancholy and paranoia - on a tour into the heart of his dreams. Terzic spins linear narrative threads, but without evoking concrete figures or landscapes in his listeners. The suggestive power of music is more like a train ride through the twilight, in which the outer worlds blur. Dejan is a drummer/composer and with saxophonist Hayden Chisholm (New Zealand), guitarist Ronny Graupe and pianist Achim Kaufmann he formed an all-star German jazz group. The debut of 'Melanoia' earned him the ECHO JAZZ award 2014 as best national drummer. In a way the personalities of these virtuosic masters of understatement become more important than their instruments leading to the situation that there is no soloing in the classic sense.
