M�ta M�ta is the Afro-Cuban Jazz project of Timeline, (the band that started the F-IRE Collective). Featuring a similar line up, with stars central to the F-IRE movement including Finn Peters, David Okumu, Nick Ramm, Tom Herbert, Leo Taylor, Maurizio Ravalico - its output features secular contemporary arrangements of a cycle of religious Afro-Cuban religious songs and rhythms - masterminded by F-IRE founder Barak Schmool.Centred round rhythms of the 3 sacred Bat� drums of Cuban Santeria (Yoruba religion), M�ta M�ta (Yoruba for 3 by 3) brings you a unique and exciting blend of ancient and modern, saluting 9 Orishas (deities) of the pantheon by voice, instruments and movement.
