Excellent 1985 Martin Simpson album Martin Simpson is justifiably regarded as one of the finest finger-style guitarists to have emerged from the British Isles. Through a series of excellent solo recordings and as a startlingly imaginative accompanist to June Tabor and others, he has earned an enviable reputation throughout the musical world. 'Sad Or High Kicking' was originally released by Topic Records in 1985, now remastered from the original tapes and repackaged for compact disc reissue. The album includes splendid readings of Randy Newman's 'Living Without You', aand Anne Lister's 'Icarus' (something of a signature piece for Simpson back in the eighties.
