Ramiz Guliyev - Dialogues with the Tar

Ramiz Guliyev is a master performer on the Tar, an acoustic string musical instrument from Azerbaijan with a long neck and figure-of-eight shaped body. This CD presents both the traditional repertoire of Tar as well as modern composers' use of the instrument in orchestral contexts.

The place and significance of the Tar in the national culture of Azerbaijan is linked to its important role in the ancient art of Mugham and Guliyev is an acknowledged master of the instrument.
