A heartfelt tribute to one of the greatest poets and songwriters of South America, forty years after his brutal murder during the U.S-backed right-wing coup in Chile in 1973. Ugo Guizzardi and Angelo Palma are vocalists and multi-instrumentalists who have had a long association with Andean and South American music and their experiences of these cultures lie at the heart of this moving tribute.
A university professor, theatre director, musician and songwriter, Victor Jara was also a political activist and member of the Chilean Communist Party. He helped found the musical, cultural and artistic movement Nueva Cancin Chilena (New Chilean Song movement) which led to a revolution in the popular music of his country under the Salvador Allende government.
