The very first CD by Yuan Deng, a young gu zheng (chinese harp) virtuoso. The album includes classical pieces of Chinese tradition, presented in gu zheng solo versions, with a repertoire ranging from the typical impressionistic pieces of classical Chinese music, inspired by natural phenomena and/or scenes of everyday life, to a rousing suite drawn from the repertoire of folk music of ethnic minorities in the country. For example, Dance of the Yao People illustrates the spirit of their rural communities around the world, while celebrating with song and dance a universal hymn to life.The gu zheng (ancient zheng), according to the classification of musical instruments widely in use today, is a harp, an instrument that is made up exclusively of a sounding flat and strings. The harps table are very common and widespread in the musical cultures in East Asia, an area that includes China, Korea and Japan and they are tools very similar to each other. Among the various recall over the Chinese gu zheng, the Korean gayageum and the Japanese koto, all with common characteristics.
