  • Jamaican born Precious Wilson spent most of her formative years living in the UK, and then the USA, where as a teen where she developed her soulful voice through gospel singing. Returning to the UK Wilson joined the all-male vocal group Eruption as a backing singer, only to take the reigns as lead vocalist when the spot quickly became available. Relocating to Germany the group caught the attention of Boney M producer Frank Farian who signed them to his Hansa label.
  • After scoring several hits across Europe from the group’s first two albums Precious Wilson chose to follow a solo career, releasing a funky disco cover of Sam & Dave’s ‘Hold On, I’m Coming’ in 1979 which features as a bonus track on this release that comes in a standard jewel case.
  • Still on the Hansa label, Frank Farian produced Wilson’s first solo album On The Race Track. Released in 1980 the album maintained the singer’s popularity, especially across mainland Europe. First single ‘Cry To Me’, a disco-fied cover of the Solomon Burke R&B hit from ’62, ideal for Wilson’s rich voice, went top 10 in Switzerland where Wilson enjoyed a lot of success. The title track and second single, co-written by Wilson, ‘We Are On The Race Track’, is about negotiating the so called Rat Race. A mid-tempo dancer with a light, Caribbean feel and complete with race car engine effects just missed out on the Swiss top ten.
  • Also featured as bonus tracks are two extended versions of the main Eruption singles featuring Precious Wilson including ‘I Can’t Stand The Rain’ and ‘One Way Ticket’.
