Odean Pope - Odean's List

Tenor saxophonist Odean Pope is a product of the dynamic Philadelphia jazz scene of the 1950's and shared the stage with John Coltrane, Lee Morgan and Jimmy Smith. His new CD has a fantastic line-up including saxophonist James Carter and drummer Jeff Tain Watts.

Odean Pope also impresses as composer and arranger on this album as eight of the pieces are his own. This includes To The Roach, dedicated to his former leader Max Roach, and whose band he was a key part of in the 1960's and 70's.
