Vintage R&B! There's a wide varity of music here - from the wild Rockin' This Joint and Wail Baby Wail, through urban blues styling to the Tex-Mex of ME Quieres. Featured artists include KID THOMAS, FLOYD DIXON, JOHNNY GUITAR WATSON, ACE HOLDER andbonus tracks from JIMMY McCRACKLIN. The lives of two of the artists are shrouded in mystery; Kid Thomas was a stalwart of the California club scene through the 50s and 60s, making the occasional classic record. He was tragically murdered in 1970 when only 35 years old. Ace Holder came from Mississippi before moving to Los Angeles. He is apparently still alive but has been out of the music scene for many years. Floyd Dixon was once a very big name in black music, having a string of R&B hits from the late 40s to the early 60s. A very original talent, he combined buoyant and bluesy piano with a very relaxed way of singing. The tracks here feature the legendary Johnny Guitar Watson.
