Deborah Coleman - Stop The Game
Catalogue No: JSPCD8804
Barcode: 788065880422
Although she first started playing professionally at the age of 15 in 1971, Deborah Coleman's musical career was intermittent and low key until the release of her first album in 1995. Since then she has recorded a further six solo albums (plus 'Time Bomb' with Sue Foley & Roxanne Potvin earlier this year), won the Orville Gibson Award for 'Best Blues Guitarist, Female' in 2001, has been nominated for a W.C. Handy Award four times, and has performed throughout the world. This new album is her debut for JSP. In his liner notes, John Stedman refers to it as, contemporaray, relevant and high energy but also with the 'realness' of the old time stuff. Check out the sheer catchiness of the instrumental 'Motor City II', the telling personal lyrics to 'Stop The Game' and 'Zero', the absolute amount of inventiveness of the guitar everywhere, the soulful passion of the singing and the willingness to interweave rock elements with timeless blues and dashes of funk. Deborah Coleman (vocals, lead & rhythm guitars), Billy Crawford (second guitars & acoustic guitar on Greezy), Jerome Heitman (bass), Neil Shull (drums).
