'The Bespoke Man's Narrative' is the brilliant Mack Avenue Records debut from pianist Aaron Diehl, the winner of the prestigious Cole Porter Fellow in Jazz competition (2011) presented by the American Pianists Association.

The idea behind the album was to take inspiration from bandleaders such as John Lewis and Duke Ellington and compose/arrange specifically for his working quartet of next-generation young lions: Warren Wolf, David Wong and Rodney Green. The influence of Lewis' band the Modern Jazz Quartet is especially apparent on the five originals and five arrangements of songs by Ellington, Milt Jackson, Ravel and others that the group present.

Diehl has performed with the Wynton Marsalis Septet, Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, The Boston Symphony Orchestra, Hank Jones, Wycliffe Gordon, Wessell Anderson, Benny Golson and Loren Schoenberg.

Personnel: Aaron Diehl (piano), Warren Wolf (vibraphone), David Wong (bass), Rodney Green (drums)
