ExVoCo, SWR Vokalensemble Stuttgart, Rupert Huber, Neue Vocalsolisten & Jeffrey Gavett - Claus-Steffen Mahnkopf: Vocal Music

Claus-Steffen Mahnkopf has written a substantial number of compositions following months of research on the sonic possibilities of the instrument, its notation and the history of modern vocal writing. This album showcases four of his works: Mon Coeur Mis a Nu, Voiced Void, Void � Und Delitto Italiano and Ese Apie Vandenis.

The breadth of vocal forces employed is also enormous. On this album, they range from solo baritone in Ese apie vandenis to a work for 24-voice ensemble, Voiced Void. Time and again, Mahnkopf deals with the topic of the void: Void � un delitto italiano for 6 voices is an epitaph for Pier Paolo Pasolini.
