Alif - Dakamerap

Maryiame, Mina and Oumy make up the group ALIF (Attaque Liberatoire de l'Infanteries Feministe). Founded in 1997 the trio were the first female group to release an album in Dakar, Senegal. Musically the album takes hiphop full circle, reconnecting it with its roots in Africa. Many of the songs combine traditional sabar-rhythms and the music of the griots with a contemporary blend of African hiphop.8 page booklet with English text explaining the background and the songs.
