Max Wild - Tamba

'Tamba' is an ambitious cross-Atlantic collaboration between Max Wild's New York-based band and Zimbabwean vocalists Chiwoniso and Sam Mtukudzi, creating an ecstatic combination of jazz and world music.The album features saxophonist Max Wild with an incredible band of world and jazz musicians, including featured guests Zimbabwean singers Sam Mtukudzi (son of Afro-Pop giant Oliver Mtukudzi) and Chiwoniso (of 'Rebel Woman' on Cumbancha fame), alongside the acclaimed bassist Michael Olatuja, whose album 'Speak' recently shot him to fame. The exhilarating 'Tamba' blurs the lines between jazz, funk and indigenous African sounds. Max surrounded himself with an intercontinental cast of characters, fusing the rhythmic and melodic traditions of southern Africa with the sophisticated harmonies and inspired interactivity at the core of contemporary jazz. The result is a delightful, intensely kinetic celebration that bridges cultural and stylistic divides whilst keeping your feet moving.
