Originators Charlie Waller (vocals, guitar) and John Duffey (vocals, mandolin) first began playing bluegrass together in 1957 although it wasn't until 1960 that the Washington, DC-based Country Gentlemen really began to attract notice with the addition of Eddie Adcock (vocals, banjo) and Tom Gray (standup bass). With one personnel change, Ed Ferris replacing Gray, the quartet enjoyed great success throughout the 1960s. Waller and Adcock still attract enthusiastic audiences with a revised line-up of Country Gentlemen but on record the group's heyday was 1963-1969, the period of this 12-track, mid-price compilation. Included are their biggest sellers Bringing Mary Home, Matterhorn and Amelia Earhart's Last Flight.
