Matthew Rhys - Nadolig Plentyn Yng Nghymru / A Child's Christmas In Wales

A delightful Welsh language animated film version of Dylan Thomas' classic short story A Child's Christmas in Wales featuring the voice of Matthew Rhys who portrayed Dylan Thomas in the film Edge of Love. The film, which won the coveted Best Short Film category in Bafta Cymru 2009, is a 30 minute animation, combining 2D hand drawn and computer generated graphics with live-action sequences filmed at Thomas' childhood home in Cwmdonkin Drive, in Swansea. Directed by celebrated UK animator Dave Unwin, the animation is available in both English and Welsh. The DVD also features a number of extra items, including interviews with the composer, director, artistic director and with Dylan Thomas' late daughter Aeronwy Thomas, who died in August 2009. It also contains a film of the animation process and a featurette on Dylan Thomas. Other key roles are voiced by actor Rhian Morgan and Gwion Jones, the 12 year old boy who played Oliver in the West End show, following his success in the BBC TV series, I'd Do Anything. The music for the film has been scored by Michael Jeffrey, with the songs performed by the winners of the BBC TV series Last Choir Standing, Only Men Aloud.
