Stacey Earle - Simple Gearle

This was Stacey Earle's 1998 solo debut that established her reputation. One reviewer at the time commented, Earle explores various takes on matters of the heart that are neither predictable nor shop worn. At times she can sound like what you might get if you could strip all the overproduced bits out of Fleetwood Mac's biggest hits and play them passionately on the acoustic guitar. At other times she is as down to earth as Suzy Roche, or rocking such as on the gypsy rock grooves of Cried My Heart Out. There are some truly beautiful songs on this record, a well-paced and well-produced album with nary a flaw or a misstep anywhere on it.
