Ari Ambrose - Settling In

Since his recording debut as leader on SteepleChase 'Introducing Ari Ambrose' some 15 years ago, saxophonist Ari Ambrose has maintained his impressive output and sound - a modern take on classic jazz forms, which he has polished to perfection on this album.

On 'Settling In' he performs a mixture of original compositions and standards by Irving Berlin, Jimmy Van Heusen, Sonny Rollins and others.

With so many of the young tenor voices continuing to follow John Coltrane or Sonny Rollins or turning toward free-form abstraction, it's refreshing to find Ambrose employing the tradition, taking it back and bringing it forward...offering something different in what often seems to be a world of clones. - JazzTimes
