Rich Perry - Mood

The album 'Mood' sees saxophonist Rich Perry decipher a number of ballads, which are, to quote the liner notes author Neil Tesser, all handled with skill and taste, yet all pushing at the edges to find something else.Perry's quartet is complete by pianist Harold Danko, bassist Jay Anderson and drummer Jeff Hirshfield. They perform compositions by Jimmy Van Heusen, Cole Porter, Thelonious Monk, Jule Stein and Argentinean pianist Sergio Mihanovich, among others. The SteepleChase sessions...constitute a body of work equal to anyone currently in the jazz mainstream.
