Welsh Songs of Peace: a new compilation album to commemorate the tragedy of the Great War 1914-18. This compilation records the reaction of the poets and singer-songwriters of Wales to war but the recurring theme of most of these 19 tracks is not an idealised, sentimental concept of peace but the human tragedy of young soldiers living with death, surrounded by suffering, bravery and fear. The stark, ugly reality of war is here in abundance but also there is beauty. the beauty of united voices singing powerful songs that not only remember the tragedy but also are a reminder to us of the stark reality that war is a constant threat.
