Darrell Nulisch - I Like It That Way

Nulisch has come a long way since his earlier recordings as a Texas blues man. Guitarist Jon Moeller is still with him from the Texas Heat days. Still a fantastic harp player, Nulisch continues the journey we saw in his excellent last album, THE WHOLE TRUTH. I LIKE IT THAT WAY has Nulisch a little further down that path into real soul jazz territory. Many of the songs on this album are originals, co-written with bassist Steve Gomez. This may not be a party recording but the musicianship is first rate and it makes an excellent late night listening album. - Mike Garner NZ Blues Society
