Darrell Nulisch - Times Like These

Like many of the acts under the Severn Records umbrella, singer/harmonica player Darrell Nulisch is a hybrid talent who does not easily slot into any one marketing category. Back in the 1960s he would probably have been tagged a 'blue-eyed soul man', not a term that is readily understood in the 21st Century. This new 12-track release combines six originals penned by Darrell and his long time collaborator/bassist Steve Gomes with an equal number of revivals of songs by the likes of Ray Charles, Ashford & Simpson, Junior Parker and Little Milton, blending Chicago and Memphis soul with Texas blues, featuring a 6-piece horn section arranged and conducted by Willie Henderson (renowned for his work with Jackie Wilson and Tyrone Davis in the '60s). A treat for those fans of '60s soul who these days are most likely to browse for their kicks in the blues racks.
