Joe Kap Organ Trio - Street Noise

This New York-based trio are Joe Kaplowitz (Hammond organ, Fender Rhodes), Paul Pieper (guitar) and Marty Morrison (drums, percussion). Their sound is predominantly easy-swinging late night jazz with funky undertones. Joe Kap explains, In this CD are 12 tunes for the B3, 10 written by myself. Street Noise Parts 1&2 and Myrtle Avenue Street Crawl were inspired by all the weird sounds at the intersection where I live in Brooklyn; The Cold Chill and Mister Heid are more in the funk tradition; Like Water, Sleeping On The Job and the concept behind It's Alright With Me come from a meditative state induced by playing the B3 for many hours late at night; Eldorado and Marvin Gaye's hit Try It Baby are just about grooving; Neurosis comes from too much thought about the same thing in a repetitive pattern.
