India Electric Company present their second album, The Gap, following on from their trilogy of EPs focusing on using traditional instruments in contemporary ways and made in association with English Folk Dance and Song Society.
Recorded in a lively wood panelled room, The Gap is inspired by a broad section of their recent explorations including Bembe rhythms, Irish folk melodies and Sarojini Naidu's words.
The Gap is built around the premise that folk songs have evolved from the blending of different cultural traditions. With a truly global outlook, it is a record that began life in England and travelled through seven different countries until being completed in New Zealand in 2020.
