National Youth Jazz Orchestra & The Vocalists - Sing a Song of Ashton

This double-CD set features 38 of Bill Ashton's songs he wrote during his 46 years as founder and director of the National Youth Jazz Orchestra (NYJO). Featuring 14 of NYJO's singers starting in 1975 and including Jacqui Hicks, Sheena Davis, Carol Kenyon, Kim Leslie, Lorraine Craig, Sarah Ellen-Hughes.

Bill Ashton has been standing in front of a Big Band for over 50 years, starting with the Oxford University Big Band back in 1960. After 46 years of fronting the NYJO, taking it all over the world, issuing over 45 albums and DVDs, he has handed on the baton to the capable hands of Mark Armstrong, himself a NYJO graduate.
