Limited edition of 1000. Uncoated paperboard sleeve, with printed inner. Includes download. Remastered for vinyl from 20bit digital tapes by Bill Sanke. Original artwork revisited by Jonathan Schute. One of the most prolific, consistent, and unsung acts classified as slowcore, Los Angeles, California's Idaho is led by four-string guitarist and vocalist Jeff Martin, an unflinching songwriter who gained comparisons to Mark Eitzel, Mark Kozelek, and Neil Young. Idaho gained a decent-size underground following through a steady release schedule during the '90s, as well as sporadic touring. Through the 2010s, Idaho alternated between a full-band lineup and a solo outlet for Martin, who also plays drums, bass, and keyboards, and produces his recordings. Initially released in May 2001, Levitate is Idaho's sixth studio album. Jeff Martin composed and produced all of the songs and played every instrument save drums. Following the vinyl edition of Hearts of Palm in 2018, Levitate is set to be released for the very first time on vinyl via Talitres. Like the subtle beauty of Low with the pulse of Mark Kozelek minus the Drakian melodrama, Idaho drifts by with the understated intensity of a rock-inspired Spoon River Anthology. Philadelphia City Paper. It's easy for sad-rockers to sound melancholy, but it's hard to do it with as much elegance as Jeff Martin. Pitchfork 8.3
