The virtuoso keyboard player Hiromi returns with the power trio, bassist Anthony Jackson and drummer Simon Phillips, that recorded her acclaimed 2011 album 'Voice' and with whom she has been touring for the past year.
On 'Move' Hiromi's music continues to marry aspects of jazz, classical and avant-garde. This time around the album is a soundtrack for a day, opening with a piano riff reminiscent of a morning alarm clock in Move and concluding with 11:49 a song designed to mark the end of one day and beginning of a new one.
It was obvious that Hiromi must continue working with bass legend Anthony Jackson (Paul Simon, Steely Dan, Chick Corea) and equally renowned drummer Simon Phillips (The Who, David Gilmour, Jack Bruce) following the tremendous accolades for 'Voice' and for the subsequent live performances. As soon as we started playing live shows, we grew up as a band. It was the biggest fun I've ever had in my life. That's why I wanted to do another record says Hiromi. High on energy and higher even still on innovation, improvisation and originality, was AllAboutJazz's verdict on the trio.
