Mark Edwards & John Donaldson - Live at Appleby Jazz Festival

'Live at Appleby Jazz Festival' features two world-class British jazz pianists performing as a duo for the first time in front of an audience.

In the 1980s John Donaldson, played with Eddie Henderson, John Handy, Richie Cole and Red Holloway in the US. At home he has played with Norma Winstone, Clark Tracey, Alan Barnes and Iain Ballamy and is the pianist of choice for many groups in the UK. Mark Edwards is an upcoming young star who has played with Ben Castle, Iain Ballamy, Bryan Spring and Bobby Wellins. On five tracks the two musicians perform duo improvisations on themes penned by Chick Corea, Bobby Timmons, Thelonious Monk, Egberto Gismonti and McCoy Tyner. The CD is completed with solo interpretations of two Bill Evans originals.
