Eliza Carthy - Rough Music

Probably the biggest star that has emerged from the Folk Scene in the last decade, Eliza Carthy is still on her way up. Her last album, Anglicana, sold in excess of 20,000 in the UK alone and won her an unprecedented three awards at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards (Album Of The Year, Singer Of The Year and Best Traditional Track). She is also the only folk based artist to garner two Mercury Music Prize nominations. She is not just one of the most highly rated singers and musicians of her generation, but has emerged as a Radio and TV presenter as well and has the highest media profile of anybody on the folk scene. Rough Music is a step on from what she has done before and is a powerful, vital, multi-layered album full of dark rhythms in her vision of English traditional music.
