Zeitel, Elian - Honig Im Tee

Elian Zeitel�s debut album includes eleven pieces of music that show a clear direction of aesthetic and musical choices as well as synthesizing the singer�s interests. Elian can be considered a lyrical singer, however she has found free improvisation to be an additional form of expression in which she enjoys using her voice in a more experimental, rhythmical way. At the heart of the compositions are lyrics written in English and Swiss German, the singer's native tongue. Embedded in a classical jazz piano trio, the songs clearly follow a jazz aesthetic with the trumpet and trombone occasionally providing solos or background sounds. The band members are Lukas Derungs (piano), Mischa Frey (double bass) and Sascha Frischknecht (drums). Peter Sch�rli (trumpet) and Florian Weiss (trombone) are featured in six of the tunes. The band presents a variety of sounds from the more forceful and dense end of the spectrum, all the way to the clarity of chamber music, filled with light and lively grooves - always serving the lyrics.
