Airileke - Weapon Of Choice

Airileke (i-reh-ley-key) is a respected Melbourne-based producer and artist that has built a name for himself through innovative projects such as DRUM DRUM, Guerilla Step and the Wantok Musik Foundation. The release of his debut album 'Weapon of Choice' in November 2012 is the culmination of his huge involvement working with the sounds of Papua New Guinea to create a new hybrid music community between Australia and the Pacific.From the streets of Port Moresby to the islands of Manus, from the Jungles of the Markham Valley to the coastal village of Gabagaba, comes a ground breaking record by Melbourne based producer and traditional log drum master Airileke. Sample based hiphop production, with fierce log drumming, PNG chants, atmospheric sound scapes and samples of West Papua's OPM are just some of what you can expect to hear. This is the new sound of urban Papua New Guinea.
