Various Artists - A Day's Work - A Folk Opera By Mick Ryan

Mick Ryan has written many successful folk operas; most recently: The Pauper's Path and The Navvy's Wife. The development is evident in this revival of A Day's Work (first performed in 1995) and shows his mastery of words, music and the spoken word. It is about the move by a group of farm workers, from the land, to the Western front in the first world war. One of the workers is a conscientious objector and is shot for his beliefs. The strong cast features some wonderful singers and the music of the show has been directed by Paul Downes.
